OCD Therapy in New York, Online

Learn to live with intrusive thoughts and build confidence in yourself, without letting OCD run the day.

If you have OCD, you probably know how exhausting it is. The thoughts feel urgent, the rituals take over your time, and you can't just stop. At Zalta Mental Health Counseling, our licensed clinicians treat OCD with evidence-based approaches, in secure video sessions you can do from home anywhere in New York State.

OCD shows up differently for everyone. Common patterns include:

  • Intrusive thoughts or images that feel disturbing or out of character

  • Fear of contamination, illness, or causing harm

  • Checking, reassurance-seeking, or mental review

  • Relationship OCD, "just right" OCD, moral or religious worries (scrupulosity)

  • Perinatal and postpartum OCD, which can show up during pregnancy or after birth

What OCD Can Look Like

How we treat OCD

Exposure and Response Prevention

ERP is the gold-standard treatment for OCD. Together with your clinician, you build a step-by-step plan to gradually face the thoughts, situations, and triggers OCD makes you avoid, while practicing not responding with compulsions or reassurance. Over time, the anxiety loses its grip and the urge to ritualize gets quieter.

Inference-Based CBT (I-CBT)

I-CBT looks at the reasoning behind OCD doubts. Many obsessions start with a story that feels convincing, like "what if something bad happens if I don't check?" We help you spot where that story goes off track, so you can step out of the doubt instead of arguing with it or trying to prove it wrong. It's especially helpful when exposures alone haven't been enough, or when the obsessions are mostly mental.

Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT)

ACT helps you change your relationship with intrusive thoughts instead of fighting them. You learn to notice a thought as a thought, make room for uncomfortable feelings, and keep moving toward what matters to you. ACT works well alongside ERP, because it builds the willingness to face triggers instead of avoiding them.

What this adds up to

The goal isn't to erase every intrusive thought. It's to help you build trust in yourself and learn to live with those thoughts without them directing your life. Your clinician will explain the plan in plain language, check in on how it's going, and adjust as you progress.
